Victoria & Oli

Wedding photography at a destination wedding in Lucca, Tuscany

Destination weddings tend to be something that UK wedding photographers want to show off because they imply that if a client is willing to fly us around the world just to shoot their wedding, we must be really good. Victoria and Oli’s wedding had all the ingredients for this - it’s in Tuscany, near Lucca, the weather was spectacular and dramatic, they’re a gorgeous couple, etc etc. But the reason I love this particular gallery is the way the photos FEEL. Family, love, vulnerability, authenticity. I’m not really a ‘I’ll be your best friend on your wedding day’ kind of wedding photographer - V&O had their families, friends and their daughter with them and being trusted to document the love, tenderness, and fun of their day is plenty for me. Of course I lead the way for directed portraits and having some fun in group photos, but this is normally less than an hour of the day. Of COURSE I connect with the couple and guests because the whole this is deeply intimate. You can see that I’m an accepted and welcome part of the day in these photos, but I’m not the main event.

Anyway, being just outside I can see the wedding day unfold and photograph it FOR YOU with a somewhat clear head and in the most beautiful way possible.

That said I did cry my eyes out during their speeches, so…

About the gallery below:

  • This is around 100 photos from the 800+ that Victoria and Oli received (1600 if you count the black and white copies).

  • The first few are nice portraits before the chronological story begins.

  • The resolution of the images on this page is only about 12% of the full res jpegs (so the page loads with decent speed!).
